Democratic government, why it sometimes doesn't work.
I need to rant about a couple things that are happening in local governments lately. Now I am all for a series of rules and regulations to help protect us because lord knows most of us are either too stupid or too disrespectful to be able to do it ourselves, unfortunately some governments are taking it too far. I speak primarily of San Fransisco. Their local government has decided that because parents make what they consider a bad decision and feed their kids fast food that they need to make legislation against it. Does having a toy in their kids meals make kids want to eat their, maybe, but taking it away doesn't change anything. Parents will still go to fast food because its just that, fast. The kids are still going to whine and complain until they get their cheeseburgers and fries, making parents buy it for them any way. Taking away the toy wont change what kids want to eat or how parents choose their fast food restaurants. In the end it will just make parents spend more to get a toy for the kids and force them to drive farther for what they want. Even if parents fell for this crap and started buying their kids the healthier meals to get the toys is it really going to stop childhood obesity? How about we ban video games, iPods, computers, etc because that is a bigger cause for childhood obesity than McDonald's Happy Meals. All I'm saying is that we can't make parents learn by forcing laws and regulations on them. At some point we have to be held accountable for our actions and decisions without the government stepping in and saying its wrong. There are many families out there who eat fast food as a treat once in a while or like my family we did it once a week because there are nights in an active family where you just don't always have time to cook a meal. Sometimes we need to just let people make their own choices and to suffer the consequences because of them. Good parents will educate their kids on good choices and help them to know what is tasty and healthy, plus will make sure their kids get outside and exercise once in a while. We don't need the government to do that for us. If this is truly and issue to help protect kids and families then how about giving the kids and families a chance to vote on whether this is something they want, don't just let a small group of people decide for everyone. Democracy is suppose to be about the people and for the people. I don't think this decision was based on anything the people wanted other than the ones who actually got a vote. Pet Peeves
I have several pet peeves as most of us do, but lately there are a couple of things that have really been irking me. First off, have respect for others. When you have someone coming to your house to perform a job or service, make sure that everything they need of your is ready to go. You wouldn't ask a plumber to come install a sink faucet and not have it purchased when he gets there. Don't have the cable guy come to install TV/Internet/phone and not have your TVs/computer/phones ready to go. It's rude, disrespectful, and makes it hard for them to confirm their job has been done properly.
Next thing I hate is seriousness. Now there are times to be serious, but if you can't ever laugh in life than what's the point. I crack jokes all the time and get dirty looks because of it or am told I am stupid. If you relax and open your mind a little you'll find that I, like many people, are just trying to lighten things up and make it more enjoyable. We are here not to just exist but to actually live and life without laughter isn't living at all. So I ask people to put down their cellphones, iPads/iPods, laptops, etc and go out and meet up with a group of friends. Go have drinks or dinner and just enjoy life once in a while. I promise your emails and Facebook will still be there when you get home.
Final rant for the day is about ownership. When you do something stand behind it and take ownership. Whether it is good, bad, or otherwise. We all do great things and deserve to get the credit for them, but we also all make mistakes and need to take ownership so that we can learn not to do it again. Also if you don't know how to do something, ASK! Don't just do it wrong or dump it off on someone else and expect them to do it. Again, take ownership of the situation and do it right. Not just because that's how it should be and it's what's best for all involved, but because it will help you learn and improve should you ever have to do it again.
I guess to sum it up, relax and enjoy life as much as you can, be respectful and thoughtful of others, and take ownership of everything you do. If we all live life together than we can all accomplish great things.

Boredom
Am bored so I thought I would throw out another post. Nothing really to write about. Just felt like writing. I am not into getting political or publicly taking stances on events, topics, or situations so I won't. Just random thoughts today I guess. A quiet morning so far. Nothing broken, no major issues, just quiet. Working til 4 today which is awesome. Always nice to get off early on a Saturday. Especially when it it to go spend time with good friends and family. Tomorrow I am told we are going shopping for Reesie. She is originally from Florida and was then moved to California. She has never seen snow or really had a cold winter so we feel it will be good to get her some boots and a coat. I hate to admit it but I have actually gotten into it. There are some really cute doggy coats and boots out there. I know saying that may cause an uproar by the man card committee, but I dare then to try and take it. lol I am hopefully today stays slow and uneventful but who knows.

It's been awhile.
It's been 10 months since I last blogged, thought today was a good day for a new post. I have also notice that my followers aren't blogging like they used to either. Maybe life is just too busy, maybe there just isn't anything to say, or maybe it's because the one who got us into blogging has been gone awhile now. I don't know, but I do know that a lot has happened to me since my last post, I've moved, I 've gotten a promotion, I've gotten a new car, and I've gotten a dog. Reesie is the greatest little Parson Russell terrier on Earth. She is cute and playful and just brightens everyday with her energetic spirit. I was always hesitant about getting a dog but can't imagine life without her. As far as everything else, we moved to something smaller and cheaper to save money and pay off debt, I finally got the promotion I've been trying for for almost 3 years, and I bought a new car cause the old one died. I hate having a car payment, but love having a good car. Right now I can't complain. We are paying off debt, slowly, and getting everything financially on track. My goal was to have most everything paid off and caught up by my birthday, which is 1/29 and I expect gifts from everyone, but I don't know if that is still realistic. We aren't far off of that but buying a car unexpectedly has definitely slowed things down. Life is as good as it has been in a long time and I am finally starting to feel less stressed and more relaxed. I feel like maybe now I can actually enjoy some of the things I work for. We still have a long way to go but being able to see light att he end of the tunnel is an amazing feeling. Health is the only questionable area for either of us right now. Tracy is doing the same as always and we just take it day by day with her. My health is about the same as it always is as well. My cholesterol is still too high and I still need to lose more weight. We have started watching are eating a lot better and are taking Reesie on long walks every evening. Hopefully we will notice the effort. Not really much else going on right now; eat, sleep, and work. Probably like everyone else, but I can accept that for now and look forward to the things that lie ahead. Hope all is well for everyone who reads this and as always comments are welcome and expected. lol
