Pet Peeves

I have several pet peeves as most of us do, but lately there are a couple of things that have really been irking me. First off, have respect for others. When you have someone coming to your house to perform a job or service, make sure that everything they need of your is ready to go. You wouldn't ask a plumber to come install a sink faucet and not have it purchased when he gets there. Don't have the cable guy come to install TV/Internet/phone and not have your TVs/computer/phones ready to go. It's rude, disrespectful, and makes it hard for them to confirm their job has been done properly.

Next thing I hate is seriousness. Now there are times to be serious, but if you can't ever laugh in life than what's the point. I crack jokes all the time and get dirty looks because of it or am told I am stupid. If you relax and open your mind a little you'll find that I, like many people, are just trying to lighten things up and make it more enjoyable. We are here not to just exist but to actually live and life without laughter isn't living at all. So I ask people to put down their cellphones, iPads/iPods, laptops, etc and go out and meet up with a group of friends. Go have drinks or dinner and just enjoy life once in a while. I promise your emails and Facebook will still be there when you get home.

Final rant for the day is about ownership. When you do something stand behind it and take ownership. Whether it is good, bad, or otherwise. We all do great things and deserve to get the credit for them, but we also all make mistakes and need to take ownership so that we can learn not to do it again. Also if you don't know how to do something, ASK! Don't just do it wrong or dump it off on someone else and expect them to do it. Again, take ownership of the situation and do it right. Not just because that's how it should be and it's what's best for all involved, but because it will help you learn and improve should you ever have to do it again.

I guess to sum it up, relax and enjoy life as much as you can, be respectful and thoughtful of others, and take ownership of everything you do. If we all live life together than we can all accomplish great things.
